In 2007, Island Estates had the opportunity to build 22 single family homes in partnership with CDC of Long Island, a not-for-profit agency that has been supporting housing and the needs of our less fortunate neighbors for over 30 years. These nicely appointed, subsidized homes were offered for sale through the Town of Southold Affordable Housing Registry to purchasers who met certain income restrictions. With prices starting well under $200,000, these homes included wood shingles, full basements, 1/4 acre lots, sod and irrigation systems, and all Energy Star appliances. With subsidies from local government agencies, we were able to build this community with the same quality, same warranties, and same involvement from our development team as any of our other communities.
